Nine wooden cubes, six pictures, one tray. Every face of every cube carries part of a picture; turn all nine to the same side and a whale, a strawberry or a fire engine appears in the tray. Turn them again and it is something else. It is the puzzle most of us had as children, made properly.

Six puzzles in the space of one

Because the pictures live on the cube faces rather than on loose pieces, nothing gets lost and the difficulty comes from the turning, not from hunting for bits. A two-year-old starts by matching one cube to a picture card; by three they are rotating cubes on purpose to find the face they need. That is spatial reasoning, done with the hands.

Sized for small hands

The tray is 12 cm square and the cubes are about 4 cm — big enough to grip, small enough to turn with one hand. It packs flat and goes in a bag, which is why it is a good café and travel puzzle.
