Description

One hose. One mat. The kids and the dog all cool off in the same place.

The Little Cubs Splash Pad is a non-slip sprinkler mat that connects straight to your garden hose. Water arcs up in a fountain ring around the edge, the middle fills with a shallow puddle, and everyone — toddlers, big kids and the family dog — piles in. It lays flat on the lawn, needs no pump, and folds down to about the size of a lunchbox when summer's over. Choose from 39", 59" or 67".

Built for dogs, not just tolerated by them

Most kids' splash pads are thin vinyl that a dog's nails go straight through on the first zoomie. This one is made from thickened PVC with a textured, grippy base — the surface a dog can actually push off from without skidding, and thick enough to stand up to claws. It's the reason this doubles as a dog pool rather than being a kids' toy the dog is banned from.

Two honest tips that make it last: trim your dog's nails before the first use, and set the pad on grass rather than concrete or gravel.

Non-slip where it matters

The centre panel is textured rather than smooth, so wet feet and wet paws both get grip. Combined with a shallow fill — a few centimetres, not a pool — it's a much lower-stakes way to let a toddler loose around water than an inflatable pool. Adult supervision still applies, always.

Which size?

  • 100cm / 39" — one toddler, or a small dog. Patios and small courtyards.
  • 150cm / 59" — two or three kids, or a medium dog with room to lie down. The usual pick.
  • 170cm / 67" — big-dog territory, or several kids at once. Best for a proper backyard.

All three fold into roughly 15 × 5 × 18cm for storage.

What you should know before buying

  • Thickened PVC — BPA- and phthalate-free, and heavy enough to shrug off claws.
  • Hose-fed, no pump — spray height follows your water pressure, so you can turn it down to a gentle trickle for nervous toddlers or up for a proper fountain.
  • Lays flat, no inflation needed for the base — the outer ring inflates, the mat itself just unrolls.
  • Folds flat — packs away small enough for the beach, a campsite or grandma's garden.

Questions people ask

Is there a splash pad that's safe for dogs?
This is one. The thickened PVC and textured non-slip base are specifically what a dog needs — grip to push off from and enough material thickness to resist claws. Trim nails first and keep it on grass and it'll last seasons.

What age is a splash pad appropriate for?
Best from around 1 to 8 years. Toddlers enjoy it sitting down in the shallow water; older kids run and stomp through the spray. Under-3s should always have an adult within arm's reach.

Is it non-toxic?
Yes — it is BPA-free and phthalate-free thickened PVC.

How high does the water spray?
That's set by your tap, not the mat. Low pressure gives a gentle bubbling ring; open the tap fully and you'll get a proper arcing fountain. Lay the pad flat and clear any kinks in the hose for the best spray.

Does it need a pump or electricity?
Neither. It runs entirely off garden hose pressure.

Can big dogs use it?
Yes — go for the 67" for a labrador, shepherd or anything of that size, so they can lie down fully in the water.

The Dog Gets An Invite Too

Grip Underfoot And Under Paw

Hot day, no plan? Roll it out on the lawn, screw on the garden hose and turn the tap.

Water arcs up in a fountain ring around the edge and the middle fills with a few centimetres of shallow water. The centre panel is textured rather than smooth, so wet feet and wet paws both keep their grip. No pump, no power, no setup beyond unrolling it — and it folds back down to about the size of a lunchbox.

Backyard, Beach, Campsite Or Nana's Lawn

It packs down to roughly 15 × 5 × 18cm, so it travels. Anywhere there's a tap and a patch of flat grass becomes a splash pad — and at 39, 59 or 67 inches across there's a size for a small courtyard or a full backyard.

Questions parents ask

Is this splash pad actually safe for dogs?
Yes — it is the reason we picked this one. The thickened PVC and textured non-slip base give a dog grip to push off from and enough material to resist claws. Two tips that make it last: trim your dog's nails before the first use, and set it on grass rather than concrete or gravel.
Is it non-toxic?
Yes. It is BPA-free and phthalate-free thickened PVC.
What age is a splash pad for?
Best from around one to eight. Toddlers sit in the shallow water; older kids run and stomp through the spray. Under-threes should always have an adult within arm's reach — it holds only a few centimetres of water, but that is still water.
Which size should I get?
39 inch suits one toddler or a small dog on a patio. 59 inch is the usual pick — two or three kids, or a medium dog with room to lie down. 67 inch is for big dogs or several kids at once.
